- Professional Interventions
Those who are struggling with a severe drug addiction will rarely attempt to seek treatment on their own volition. In many cases, staging a professional intervention is a necessary first step. There are several licensed and highly experienced interventionists on staff who will guide you through every step of the process while offering ongoing support. If your loved one is struggling with a life-threatening addiction but is not yet willing to seek treatment, Long Island Interventions is available to help.
Before entering into an inpatient treatment facility, individuals will need to be physically stabilized in a medically monitored detox, where they will undergo symptoms of drug or alcohol withdrawal in a safe, supportive environment. While most symptoms of withdrawal are immensely uncomfortable, some can be life-threatening if not properly treated.
Once medical detox is complete and an individual has been physically stabilized (meaning the worst of withdrawal symptoms are over), he or she will transfer to an inpatient treatment for an extended period of time. Most inpatient programs last for between 30 and 90 days, depending on the severity of the addiction. The inpatient program at Long Island Interventions incorporates intensive therapeutic intervention and the installation of crucial relapse prevention skills.
Once an individual has completed inpatient treatment, he or she will transfer to a different residence – typically a sober living house – and continue with therapeutic treatment at an outpatient program. The outpatient program is typically held up to five days a week for several hours and helps newly sober individuals navigate early sobriety and work through any issues that may arise.
If an individual steps away from his or her program of recovery, or fails to openly talk about personal problems in one-on-one or group therapy, relapse is possible. Long Island Interventions offers drug testing options to help keep those new to recovery as accountable as possible.
